Housing Information:

 

There is plenty of affordable housing in Virginia Beach, but it is very important that you arrange your housing before your arrival to the US. You should expect to pay approximately $100 per week. We recommend you check out the Virginia Beach ISOP page for options.

About Virginia Beach, Virginia:

While you are in Virginia Beach, you will experience miles of white sandy beaches, warm sparkling water, unlimited restaurants, rides, activities and entertainment.  There are shops lining the streets, and a huge population of other J-1 Students – you will be sure to meet people from all over the world. 

During your downtime, there are plenty of things to enjoy, including:

·          A world-famous boardwalk

·          Fairs and festivals

·          Outdoor music

Virginia is also rich in American history; it is one of the original Thirteen Colonies which took part in the American Revolution and the American Civil War.

Other Nearby Points of Interest: Colonial Williamsburg or the Historic Jamestown Settlement to experience American history from the 18th century. Close by Norfolk is home to the largest naval base in the world. At Naval Station Norfolk take a tour of the ships and aircrafts which arrive and depart from the port throughout the year.

Most days are filled with sunshine and occasional rainfall. During the summer it is hot and humid and the average air temperature is 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29.5 degrees Celsius), while the average water temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius).

How to Get There

The closest airport you can fly into is Norfolk International Airport (ORF) located in Norfolk, Virginia. If you fly into this airport we suggest you take the bus or the Airport Shuttle. You can also take a taxi to your pre-arranged housing. Flying into Dulles International Airport (IAD) located in Washington, D.C. is another option. If you fly into this airport you will need to take the Greyhound Bus or Amtrak Train and then a taxi your pre-arranged housing in Virginia Beach.
