Housing information

There are 2 types of housing provided at Denali Cabins-Milepost229 which include the following:

1. ATCO style housing with 1 or 2 employees per room

2. 8 plex housing unit with 1 to 3 employees per room.

Employer determines housing location for students.

The housing is very basic but is the wildness standard for Denali Park employee accommodations. Employees stay in modified ATCO trailers or an8 plex building (8 simple rooms). All rooms have beds, bedding materials closet space and electric or propane heaters. There are generally 2 people per room. We attempt to put compatible personality in the same living quarters, but please understand that employees come room all parts of the country and world. The housing responsibilities require patience, flexibility and a good sense of humor but with the right group, it will be the experience of a lifetime.

It is very important that all employees know that this is a remote location.

Weather in Denali, Alaska:

Summers are usually cool and damp, but temperatures in the 70s are not rare. The weather is so unpredictable that there have even been instances of snow in August. The average maximum temperature at park headquarters is 66 degrees Fahrenheit for July. The average minimum temperature for July is 43 degrees Fahrenheit.

How to Get There

Alaska Denali Travel provides transportation for all of our employees to the job locations in which they will be employed. Because of the remote location of the job sites we must ask all employees to arrive and depart on specific dates. Students should fly into Anchorage, Alaska and apply for social security before heading to their work site.
