You need to be comfortable handling meat, seafood and gluten products. You must be friendly, outgoing, customer service oriented and enjoy working with people. This is a social and hard working job.
Position Description: Job will vary depending on need and skills. Students may be stocking grocery items, working as cashiers, bagging, stocking, and selling fresh produce. Your job may include using chemical cleaning products. Working conditions may include cold temperatures inside the coolers, or hot temperatures outdoors. A Meat Clerk, Fresh Food and Produce Clerk is responsible for stocking shelves and maintaining the overall appearance of the store. That means you'll have to unload trucks and move the merchandise to the floor quickly and efficiently. You may be responsible for setting up the shelves according to company specifications, which means you'll need a good eye for detail. You will need to work well independently and motivate yourself to complete an assigned task from start to finish (without getting distracted).
Job departments will be assigned to students based on business needs. Students must be flexible and work any job described below. On any day, you could be assigned any of these job responsibilities:
BAGGER
These valuable associates are responsible for following correct bagging procedures, placing the bags in the cart and loading them into a customer's car in a prompt and friendly customer oriented manner. Also, Baggers are responsible for the parcel pick-up area and retrieval of shopping carts when necessary.
CASHIER
As a cashier you'll use a cash register to ring people up, take their money and give them their change and a receipt. You might also have to wrap or bag their purchase. Cashiers sometimes handle returns and exchanges. Cashiers are responsible for accurately and efficiently operating the cash register while providing prompt and friendly customer oriented service. These valuable associates are also responsible for maintaining security and control of all funds in the cash register.
FRESH FOODS/ DELI-BAKERY CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK
Fresh Foods Customer Service Clerks are responsible for excellent customer service through product knowledge and recognition in our Fresh Foods areas (deli, bakery and prepared foods). Customer specifications on meat and cheese selections, adequate counter inventory levels, and maintenance of sanitary conditions is a must throughout the department.
These associates are responsible for providing prompt knowledgeable and friendly service to customers. They are responsible for maintaining our high level of sanitation standards for the meat/ seafood counters, prep room, and cooler. Also, Meat/Seafood Clerks are responsible for unloading stock and efficiently processing and stocking products.
PRODUCE CLERK
Produce Clerks are responsible for efficiently stocking and processing while maintaining our high quality freshness standards, and merchandising produce while providing prompt and friendly customer service. These associates are also responsible for unloading product from the truck and reloading salvage.
GROCERY CLERK
Grocery Clerks are responsible for efficiently processing and stocking in the grocery department. These associates are responsible for unloading stock, reloading the salvage truck and maintaining the cleanliness of the department, food and produce. Job may include using chemical cleaning products. Working conditions may include cold temperatures inside the coolers, or hot temperatures outdoors.
